WHY RENO?

At the foot of the Sierra Nevada, Reno contends with snowmelt runoff and rain-on-snow storms that can send the Truckee River over its banks. The river runs from Lake Tahoe straight through downtown. The 1997 New Year's Flood, which caused an estimated $700 million in damage, reshaped how the region prepares for high water.

Reno is also home to the Truckee River Flood Management Authority. About an hour's drive away, a long-running program at Lake Tahoe targets urban runoff to restore the lake's famous clarity. 

StormCon is returning to Reno in 2027 after it was a hit with attendees in 2024 for its relevance, convenience and affordability.
