FIELD TRIP C: OWÁMNIYOMNI OKHÓDAYAPI – FRIENDS OF THE FALLS TOUR

Visit one of Minneapolis’ most meaningful riverfront sites with a guided tour of Owámniyomni Okhódayapi, the site of the only major waterfall on the Mississippi River.

Led by Program Director Barry Hand, this guided talk and tour will explore the cultural, spiritual, historical, and ecological significance of the falls. Attendees will learn about the organization’s work engaging Native American communities, honoring the site’s heritage, and reconnecting people with the Mississippi River.

After the guided portion, attendees will have time to view the falls at their leisure before returning to the convention center.

This tour is ideal for attendees interested in river restoration, environmental stewardship, community engagement, Indigenous history, and the cultural importance of water infrastructure and public spaces.
