THREE IMMERSIVE FIELD TRIPS ACROSS TWO SEPERATE DAYS! 

Take your StormCon experience beyond the classroom with exclusive field trips and technical tours throughout Minneapolis. These guided experiences give attendees a closer look at the stormwater systems, water infrastructure, research facilities, and environmental restoration efforts shaping one of the nation’s most water-focused cities.

Space is limited for each tour, and advance registration is required.

FIELD TRIP A: ST. ANTHONY FALLS LAB & WATER WORKS TOUR

Tuesday, August 25 | 9:00am - 3:30pm

Explore applied water research and sustainable site design during this full-day tour of the Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory and Water Works at Mill Ruins Park.

Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at active indoor and outdoor research facilities focused on stormwater innovation, climate change, hydrology, and water quality before continuing to a transformed riverfront site featuring stormwater BMPs and a reuse system that captures runoff for irrigation and toilet flushing.

This tour connects research, real-world implementation, and Minneapolis’ historic relationship with the Mississippi River.

FIELD TRIP B: WILDERNESS INQUIRY
CANOE TOUR

Tuesday, August 25 | 8:30am - 11:30pm
Add-On Cost: $160/person

Includes transportation and water/snacks
Limited to 48 participants

See Minneapolis from the water during a guided Mississippi River canoe experience led by Wilderness Inquiry.

Attendees will paddle in 10-person canoes while learning about local wildlife, river ecology, culture, and water infrastructure visible from the route. With Wilderness Inquiry staff helping guide the experience, this tour offers a more active, outdoor way to connect with the Mississippi River and gain a new perspective on the systems, landscapes, and stories that shape Minneapolis’ relationship with water.​​​​​​​

Please Note: All Wilderness Inquiry Tour participants will be required to complete a waiver in addition to registering for the tour. After registering, you will receive a follow-up email with the waiver form to complete.

THURSDAY FIELD TRIP

FIELD TRIP C: OWÁMNIYOMNI OKHÓDAYAPI
– FRIENDS OF THE FALLS TOUR

Thursday, August 27 | 3:00pm - 5:30pm
Add-On Cost: $80/person

Includes transportation and water/snacks
Limited to 48 participants

Visit one of Minneapolis’ most meaningful riverfront sites during a guided tour of Owámniyomni Okhódayapi, home to the only major waterfall on the Mississippi River.

Attendees will explore the cultural, spiritual, historical, and ecological significance of the falls while learning about the organization’s work to honor the site’s heritage, engage Native American communities, and reconnect people with the river. This tour offers a powerful look at the relationship between water, place, ecology, and community in Minneapolis.
