Description

The American Society of Civil Engineers, the country’s oldest national civil engineering organization, released its 2025 Report Card on America’s Infrastructure earlier this year in March. The report card covers 18 categories of infrastructure and gives an overall grade of a “C” for America’s Infrastructure and, once again, assigned the United States a grade of “D” for the stormwater infrastructure category. This is the same grade stormwater received on its debut report card in 2021. It is imperative to take decisive action in transforming the way we manage, fund, and design stormwater systems across the country. As extreme weather becomes more frequent and communities face growing risks from flooding and pollution, the performance of our stormwater infrastructure can no longer be ignored. Stormwater infrastructure is critical but often overlooked. A second “D” grade is a wake-up call — not a verdict. Through bold leadership, smart investment, and integrated design, we can build a future where our infrastructure earns an “A”—for Accountability, Adaptation, and Action. In the opening keynote session, learn how we, as a sector and country, can better manage our stormwater, what it will take to update aging infrastructure and how we can be more resilient.
