FIELD TRIP B: DUBSDREAD GOLF COURSE
The Dubsdread Golf Course tour will explore the improvements made to the oldest public layout in central Florida. Through the I-4 Stormwater Technical Working Group, which AtkinsRealis facilitated for Florida Department of Transporation District 5 along with CH2M Hill as the sub-contractor, the City of Orlando identified the Little Lake Fairview/Dubsdread Golf Course Stormwater Project as a potential partnership that would provide an opportunity for stormwater treatment and reuse for a portion of the Ultimate I-4 improvements. A Joint Project Agreement (JPA) was executed between FDOT District 5 and the City of Orlando to treat and attenuate a portion of I-4 and the surrounding residential area with a series of interconnected ponds. Other project elements include stormwater treatment for nearly 397 acres, wetland rehydration, pipe and discharge expansion, and trash capture. During the tour, attendees will learn about this project and the rest of its elements, the hydraulic and environmental issues regarding inflow to the golf course, how the partnership between project stakeholders developed, how the permitting effort worked, what the construction phase entailed, and lessons learned from the project overall.
Attendees will be provided a picnic buffet lunch in the Historic Dubsdread Ballroom during the tour. Bottled water will also be provided for attendees as they are entering the bus on the way to and from the golf course.
