The Minnesota Department of Transportation's green stormwater infrastructure toolkit provides guidance for designing, constructing and maintaining stormwater management systems across MnDOT projects. The toolkit addresses practices that improve stormwater management while delivering environmental co-benefits including habitat, aesthetic value and active transportation comfort. The presentation also covers research showing how visible, above-ground stormwater elements can provide traffic calming, and how detailed stormwater elements, including both vegetation and human-made structures, can reduce snow trap hazards along MnDOT's highway system. Long-term maintenance and system monitoring plans are included to support sustained performance.
